After receiving more information from our DR, here is an update on our student:
Genara is 10 years old. She has been a faithful student in CCI’s literacy center for two years. She suffers from Sickle Cell Disease and was also diagnosed with Hepatitis A. We understand that a week ago her lower extremities became paralyzed. After many tests, the doctors have determined that at a minimum, she will need monthly blood transfusion. In the Dominican Republic, patients are responsible not only for these services, but for buying the blood.
Our staff in the DR is asking for any donations for her family and that she be kept in prayer. She is now able to walk, but is recovering slowly. She was released and is recuperating little by little at home, but we know that this family will need continued support in the coming months. Thank you to CCI supporters who have currently given $700 to support Genara.
